ADJUSTING THE BACK RELEASE CORD TENSION (FIGURE 4)

1.Grasp and hold the excess back release cord.

2.Loosen the cord lock by pressing the star wheel DOWN.

3.Move the cord lock along the back release cord until the desired tension is achieved.

4.Secure the cord lock by pressing the star wheel UP.

Holes numbered from bottom to top for reference only. (There are no numbers on the receiver tubes.)

X - DO NOT use these adjustment holes.

3.Adjust the back release cord tension. Refer to AD- JUSTING BACK RELEASE CORD TENSION in this procedure of the manual.

4.Reinstall the two (2) back height adjustment screws and locknuts that secure the back canes to the wheel- chair frame. Torque to 80-90 in./lbs.

CORD TENSION

ADJUSTING THE BACK HEIGHT (FIGURE 5)

NOTE: There are four (4) height ranges of back canes

available: 12-14-inches (straight with or without push handles), 14-16-inches (straight), 16-18-inches (straight and 10o bend with push handles) and 20-inches (10o bend with push handles).

NOTE: The back height of the 20-inch back cane is not adjustable. The following steps refer to 14-18-inch, 12-14- inch and 16-18-inch back canes only.

1.Remove the two (2) back height adjustment screws and locknuts that secure the two (2) back canes to the wheelchair frame.

2.Reposition the back canes to the desired adjustment hole:

NOTE: The 12-14-inch back has a receiver tube with only three (3) holes. The 14-16, 16-18, and 20-inch back canes have receiver tubes with five (5) holes. A new receiver tube is necessary when changing to/from 12-14-inch back canes. Contact a qualified technician.
