theRPL450‐2(LowBase)is450lbsandtheRPA600‐2(LowBase)is600lbs.
ALWAYSkeephandsandfingersclearofmovingpartstoavoidinjury.
Using the SlingUseanInvacareapprovedslingthatisrecommendedbytheindividual’sdoctor,nurseor
medicalassistantforthecomfortandsafetyoftheindividualbeinglifted.
DONOTuseanykindofplasticbackincontinencepadorseatingcushionbetween
patientandslingmaterialthatmaycausethepatienttoslideoutoftheslingduring
transfer.
Aftereachlaundering(inaccordancewithinstructionsonthesling),inspectsling(s)for
wear,tears,andloosestitching.
Bleached,torn,cut,frayed,orbrokenslingsareunsafeandcouldresultininjury.Discard
immediately.
DONOTalterslings.
Besuretochecktheslingattachmentseachtimetheslingisremovedandreplaced,to
ensurethatitisproperlyattachedbeforethepatientisremovedfromastationaryobject
(bed,chairorcommode).
Ifthepatientisinawheelchair,securethewheellocksinplacetopreventthechairfrom
movingforwardsorbackwards.
Whenconnectingslingsequippedwithcolorcodedstrapstothepatientlift,theshortest
ofthestrapsMUSTbeatthebackofpatientforsupport.Usinglongsectionwillleavelittle
ornosupportforpatientʹsback.Theloopsoftheslingarecolorcodedandcanbeusedto
placepatientinvariouspositions.Thecolorsmakeiteasytoconnectbothsidesofthe
slingequally.Makesurethatthereissufficientheadsupportwhenliftingapatient.
Lifting the PatientWhenusinganadjustablebaselift,thelegsMUSTbeinthemaximumOpened/Locked
positionbeforeliftingthepatient.
Whentheslingiselevatedafewinchesoffthesurfaceofthebedandbeforemovingthe
patient,checkagaintomakesurethattheslingisproperlyconnectedtothehooksofthe
swivelbar.Ifanyattachmentsarenotproperlyinplace,lowerthepatientbackontothe
stationarysurfaceandcorrectthisproblem‐otherwise,injuryordamagemayoccur.
Adjustmentsforsafetyandcomfortshouldbemadebeforemovingthepatient.Patientʹs
armsshouldbeinsideofthestraps.
