TROUBLESHOOTING
The focus does not adjust automatically.•Focus is set to the Manual mode.
¥Set Focus to the Auto mode (墌 pg. 26).
•The recording was done in a dark place, or the
contrast was low.
•The lens is dir ty or covered with condensation.
¥Clean the lens and check the focus again
(墌 pg. 46).
The cassette will not load properly.•The cassette is in the wrong position.
¥Set it in the right position (墌 pg. 9).
•The batter y’s charge is low.
¥Install a fully charged battery (墌 pg. 7, 8).
The memory card will not load properly.•The memory card is in the wrong position.
¥Set it in the right position (墌 pg. 11).
Snapshot mode cannot be used.•The Squeeze mode is selected.
¥Disengage the Squeeze mode (墌 pg. 29).
The colour of Snapshot looks strange.•The light source or the subject does not include white.
Or there are various different light sources behind the
subject.
¥Find a white subject and compose your shot so that
it also appears in the frame (墌 pg. 17, 25).
•The Sepia or Monotone mode is activated.
¥Turn off Sepia and Monotone (墌 pg. 23).
The image taken using Snapshot is too dark.•Shooting was performed under backlit conditions.
¥Press the BACKLIGHT Button ! (墌 pg. 26).
The image taken using Snapshot is too bright.•The subject is too bright.
¥Set “PROGRAM AE” to “SPOTLIGHT” in the Menu
Screen (墌 pg. 23).
Digital Zoom does not work.•16X optical zoom is selected.
¥Set “ZOOM” to “40X” or “700X” in the Menu Screen
(墌 pg. 28).
•The VIDEO/MEMORY Switch 4 is set to “MEMORY”.
¥Set the VIDEO/MEMORY Switch 4 to “VIDEO”

Before consulting your JVC dealer, please check the
following to see it you can correct the problem yourself.
The camcorder is a microcomputer-controlled
device. External noise and interference (from a TV,
a radio, etc.) might prevent it from functioning
properly. In such cases, first disconnect its power
supply unit (battery pack, AC Adapter, etc.) and wait
a few minutes; and then re-connect it and proceed
as usual from the beginning.
No power is supplied.•The power is not connected properly.
¥Connect the AC Adapter securely (墌 pg. 7).
•The battery is dead.
¥Replace the dead battery with a fully charged one
(墌 pg. 7, 8).
“SET DATE/TIME!” appears.•The date/time is not set.
¥Set the date/time (墌 pg. 10).
•The built-in clock battery has run out and the
previously set date/time has been erased.
¥Consult your nearest JVC dealer for replacement.
Recording cannot be performed.—— For Tape Recording ——
•The tape’s erase protection tab is set to “SAVE”.
¥Set the tape’s erase protection tab to “REC”
(墌 pg. 9).
•The Power Switch u is set to “PLAY” or “OFF
(CHARGE)”.
¥Set the Power Switch u to “ ” or “ ” (墌 pg. 13).
•The VIDEO/MEMORY Switch 4 is set to “MEMORY”.
¥Set the VIDEO/MEMORY Switch 4 to “VIDEO”.
•“TAPE END” appears.
¥Replace with new cassette (墌 pg. 9).
•The cassette holder cover is open.
¥Close the cassette holder cover.
—— For Memory Card Recording ——
•The VIDEO/MEMORY Switch 4 is set to “VIDEO”.
¥Set the VIDEO/MEMORY Switch 4 to “MEMORY”.
There is no picture.•The camcorder is not getting power, or some other
malfunction exists.
¥Turn the camcorder’s power off and on again
(墌 pg. 13).
