In the case of a DVD disc, “titles” and “chapters” are the units. a disc comprises “titles,” and each title may be divided into some “chapters.” Each title has an independent content, while each chapter in the same title has continuity. For example, if a disc contains some movies, each movie may have its own title number, and each movie may be divided into some chapters. In a karaoke disc, each song usually has its own title number and does not have chapters.

In the case of an Audio or Video CD, “tracks” are the units. Each song usually has a track number.
