to exceed the marked hydrostaticworking pressureof the
water heater (150IbsJsq. in.) and a discharge capacity not
lessthan the water heater input rate as shownon the model
rating plate.(Electric h_ters -watts divided by 1000 x 3415

A WARNING

HOTTER WATER CAN SCALD: Water heaters are
intended to produce hot water. Water heated to a tam-
_erature which will satisfy space heating, clothes wash-
ing, dish washing, and other sanitizing needs can scald
and permanently injure you uponcontact. Some people
are more likely to be permanently injured by hot water
than others. These include the elderly, children, the
infirm, or physically/mentally handicapped. If anyone
using hot water in your home fits into one ofthese
groupsor if there is alocal code or state lawrequiring a
certain temperature water at the hot water tap, then
you must take special precautions. In addition to using
the lowest possible temperature setting that satisfies
tour hot water needs, a means suchas a mixing valve,
Ishallbe used at the hot water taps usedby these people
or at the water heater. Mixing valves are available at
plumbing supplyor hardware stores. Follow manufactur-
ers instructions for installation of the valves. Before
changingthe factory setting on the thermostat, read the
I"Temperature Regulation" sectionin this manual.
AWARNING
WATER HEATERS EQUIPPED FOR ONE VOLTAGE
ONLY: This water heater isequipped for one type voltage
only.Check the rating plate nearthe bottom accesspanel
for the correct voltage. DO NOT usethis water heater
with any voltage other than the one shown on the model
rating plate. Failure to usethe correct voltage can cause
problems which can result in DEATH, SERIOUS BODILY
INJURY,OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. If you have any ques-
tions or doubts consultyour electric company.
AWARNING
INSULATING JACKETS: When installing an external
water heater insulation jacket on an electric water
heater:
DO NOT coverthe temperature-pressure ralief valve.
b. DO NOT put insulation over the access cover_or any
access alias.
c. DO HOT cover or remove operating instructions, and
safety related warning labelsand materials affixedto the
water heater.
AWARNING
DOnot usethis appliance if any part of it hasbeen under
water. An electrical short or malfunction could occur.
The water heater should be replaced.
ACAUTION
WATER HEATERS EVENTUALLY LEAK: Installation of
the water heater must be accomplishedin such a manner
that iftbe tank or any connectionsshould leak, the flow of
water will not cause damage to the structure. When such
locations cannot be avoided, asuitable drain pan should
be installed under the water heater. Drain pansare avail-
_ble at your local SearsStore. Such adrain pan mustbe
piped to an adequate drain. Under no circumstances is
the manufacturer or Searsto beheld liable for anywater
damage in connection with this water heater.
