HIGH TEMPERATURE SHUT OFF SYSTEM

Remove the two screws securing the access panel and remove
panel.
Open the flap ofinsulation to expose the opening.
• Reset the high limit by pushing in the red button marked
"RESET".

Fold the insulation back in place so that it completely covers
the thermostat and element.
Replacethe accesspanel.
Turn_ON" electricpowerto thewaterheater.
ACAUTION
IIf the highlimit mustbe reset again, callSears Service
Departmentto findout whythe highlimit turned"OFF"
the eectHcpower.
NOT ENOUGH OR NO HOT WATER
In anew installation, the water heater may not be p.roperly
connected. Make sure the cold water supply valve is open.
Review and check piping installation. Make sure that the
cold water line isconnected to the cold water inlet to the
water heater and the hot water line to the hot water outlet
on the water heater.
Make sure the electrical supply to your water heater is
_ON".
Check forloose or blownrises in your water heatercircuit.
Circuit breakersweaken with age and maynot handletheir
ratedloadand should be replaced.
Make certain the disconnecl:switch,if used, is in the "ON"
position.
Check to see the electricserviceto your house has not been
interrupted. If this is the case, contact theelectriccompany.
Are the thermostats set to the desiredtemperature? See
"TemperatureRegulation" section.
If you had exl_erienced very hot water andnow no hot
water, the proolem may be due to the high temperature
shut off system. See "High TemperatureShut OffSystem"
in the "Troubleshooting_section.
During very cold weather,the incoming waterwill also be
colder and it will require alonger time to becomeheated.
The hotwater usagemay exceed the capacityof the water
heater.If so, waitforwaterheater to recoverafter abnormal
demand.Also examine pipes and faucetsfor possiblewater
leaks.
If you cannot determine the problem, then call the Sears
ServiceDepartment.
WATER IS TOO HOT
Adjust the thermostat to alowersetting. See the "Temperature
Regulation"section.
