Valve Operation

Tb_e tcmperatu_-pressu_ rdief vatve must be man_ally operated at least once a year.

For Propane (I.R) Gas ModelsOnly:,

Your water heater is equippedwi_ • Propane (I-R) gascon- troi valve and a main burner assemblywith left:hand threads

for the followingfittingsand their connections.

The connecdon between the manifold and the gas cont_ v_ (A _o B) are left hand threads_

The connection between the main burner orifice and che manifold (C to D) are left hand threads.

For ordering these replacement parts, please refer to the "Repair Parts" section ofthi_ manual.

DISCHARGE P!PE

Draining

The water heater should be drainedif being shut down during freezing temperatures. Also periodic draining and cleaning of sediment from the tank may be necessary.

Turn the gas control knob to the _OI_F"position. CLOSE the cold water inlet valveto the water heater.

OPEN a nearby hot water faucet and leave open to allow for draining.

Connect a hose to the drain valve and terminate to an ade- quate drain.

OPEN the water heater drain valve to allow for tank draining.

NOTE: If the water heater is going to be shut down and

drained for an extended period, the dra_ valve should be left open with hose connected allowing water to terminate to an adequatedrain.

Close the ctrainvalve.

Follow instructions in the "Filling The Water Heater" section.

Follow the lighting instructionsin the "Lighting" section to restartthe waterheater.

Failureto install and maintain a new properly listed tempera- ture-pressure rdief valve will releasethe manufacturerfrom any claimwhich might resultfrom excessivetemperature or pressure.
