Fire Safety

What To Do When The Alarm Sounds

Alert small children in the home.

Leave immediately by your escape plan. Every second counts, so don’t waste time getting dressed or picking up valuables.

In leaving, don’t open any inside door without first feeling its surface. If hot, or if you see smoke seeping through cracks, don’t open that door! Instead, use your alternate exit. If the inside of the door is cool, place your shoulder against it, open it slightly and be ready to slam it shut if heat and smoke rush in.

Stay close to the floor if the air is smoky. Breathe shallowly through a cloth, wet if possible.

Once outside, go to your selected meeting place and make sure everyone is there.

Call the fire department from your neighbor’s home–not from yours!

Don’t return to your home until the fire officials say that it is all right to do so.

There are situations where a smoke alarm may not be effective to protect against fire as stated in the NFPA Standard 72. For instance:

a)smoking in bed

b)leaving children home alone

c)cleaning with flammable liquids, such as gasoline.

NRC Information

Ionization type smoke alarms use a very small amount of a radioactive element in the sensing chamber to enable detection of visible and invisible combustion products. The radioactive element is safely contained in the chamber and requires no adjustments or maintenance. This smoke alarm meets or exceeds all government standards. It is manufactured and distributed under license from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

PI2000CA specifications

The Kidde PI2000CA is a state-of-the-art smoke and carbon monoxide detector designed to provide comprehensive safety for your home or business. This versatile device integrates advanced technologies to detect both smoke and carbon monoxide, ensuring peace of mind for occupants.

One of the most notable features of the Kidde PI2000CA is its dual-sensor technology. The smoke detection system utilizes both photoelectric and ionization sensors. The photoelectric sensor is highly effective at detecting smoldering fires, which are often characterized by excessive smoke and slow burning. In contrast, the ionization sensor excels in identifying fast-flaming fires. This combination allows the PI2000CA to offer superior responsiveness, providing reliable alerts in various fire scenarios.

Another defining characteristic of the PI2000CA is its 10-year sealed lithium battery. This feature eliminates the hassle of battery replacements, ensuring that the unit remains functional and reliable throughout its lifespan. The sealed battery also enhances convenience, as users no longer need to worry about battery expiration dates or regular checks.

The Kidde PI2000CA is also equipped with a voice alarm feature. In addition to standard visual alerts, the device announces the type of danger detected: "Fire" or "Warning: Carbon Monoxide." This auditory feature is particularly beneficial during nighttime or in situations where individuals may be disoriented, providing clear instructions that allow for quicker responses.

Furthermore, the smoke and carbon monoxide detector has a test/reset button, allowing users to regularly check the unit’s functionality. The device is designed to be user-friendly, making it easy for anyone to operate and maintain.

Another significant aspect of the Kidde PI2000CA is its user manual, which guides homeowners in optimal placement of the detector for effective coverage. Proper installation is crucial in maximizing the unit's performance, especially in larger spaces.

In summary, the Kidde PI2000CA combines innovative technology and user-centric features to offer enhanced safety for environments where smoke or carbon monoxide may pose risks. With its dual-sensor technology, long-lasting battery, voice alerts, and ease of maintenance, this device is a robust solution for smoke and CO detection, ensuring that families and individuals can feel safe in their homes.
