Trouble shooting guide

Problem

Cause

– When using the binoculars and

not wearing glasses, the dot on

the armouring lines up with the

arrow on the focusing thumb-

wheel and you cannot focus the

image to.

Solution

The identification mark (arrow on the armouring, left near the focusing thumbwheel) for “infin- ity” is given with reference to

0 diopeter difference in eye- sight correction. If the binocu- lars have been set for a diffe- rence between the eyes, or if you are near- or far-sighted by the same amount in both eyes, the position of these symbols when you focus to infinity varies correspondingly.

The focusing thumbwheel can- not be turned fully. The marks are visible in the scale window, and the optical system on one side if the binoculars is out of focus.

In basic focusing, one of the two halves of the drive was moved at least half a turn beyond the scale range. The displayed value is outside the working range of the binocu- lars.

To reset the binoculars to nor- mal, turn both thumbwheels in opposing directions until the scale returns to the centre of the window. You can now adjust the focusing.
