Once again, ProKeys Sono is being used as an audio interface.. However, in this scenario, the auxiliary input jacks are being used to record the output of an external device (such as a sound module, CD player, or other line-level device)..

The external device’s stereo output is received at the RCA input jacks on ProKeys Sono and sent to the computer through the USB connection.. Sequencer software running on the computer can then capture the device’s signal on a stereo audio track (labeled “Aux Stereo” in the illustration above).. Signal entering the left Aux input is routed to the left channel

of your software (i..e.., channel one) while the right Aux input is routed to the right channel (channel two) of the recording software..

This stereo signal can be monitored while recording or played back after it has been recorded.. Monitoring can take place over powered speakers (connected to the 1/4” main output jacks on the rear panel) or by headphones (connected to either one of the 1/4” headphone jacks on the front panel)..

TIP: Signal from the ProKeys Sono auxiliary inputs are usually available on input channels one and two within your recording software. To record the external device’s outputs, a stereo audio track must be configured to receive signal from audio input channels one and two. See your audio application’s documentation to learn how to configure an audio track.

Keep in mind that—depending on how the Mono button is configured to function—the routing of the auxiliary inputs can be altered to make the left and right channels appear as a mono sound source that is “centered” in the stereo field.. This functionality may be helpful in direct monitoring situations where headphones are being used.. To learn more about this, see the section titled “The Mono Button” within the “ProKeys Sono Audio Setup and Controls” section of this User Guide..
