Starting Procedure

Prior to starting, check oil and fuel levels. We recommend plain unleaded petrol rather than Premium be used.

Turn the fuel and engine switch to the on positions.

Check that the two clutch levers are disengaged (as illustra- tion).

The choke may need to be engaged for the first start.

Set the throttle lever to a medium speed (half way).

Pull the recoil starter in a smooth motion and avoid reaching the limit of the rope. Return the handle to the start position be- fore releasing it.

Once started, disengage the choke and adjust the engine revs to allow smooth operation of the clutch controls.

Remember that the cutting cylinder and the rear roller drive clutches can be operated independently for easy control.

Use the height adjuster knob to obtain the best cutting level for your turf conditions.

Stopping Procedure

Disengage the two clutch levers.

Turn the engine stop switch to the off position.

If this fails to stop the engine, engaging the choke will nor- mally stop the engine or by removing the spark plug lead.

Always stop the engine before working on the mower.

Maintenance

Lubrication: Alroh Residential mowers are all fitted with sealed bearings to give a long maintenance free performance.

Cleaning: Avoid using a hose or pressure washer to clean the mower as this may force water into the bearings and engine.

Compressed air or a blower can be used to clean the mower and a quick wipe over with a lightly oiled rag will help preserve the mower finish.

Engine: Follow the engine manufacturer’s recommendations for regular maintenance.

Air Filter: Clean, dust free, air is essential for the long life of your engine. Dirty filters restrict air flow, causing the engine to burn excessive fuel and reduce performance.

Oil Check:When checking the oil level ensure the engine is standing level to obtain an accurate reading.

Oil Change: We recommend an early oil change at the end of the first month to remove impurities from manufacture and that the engine oil should be replaced at least annually. These engines have no oil filter and rely on regular changes of oil to give long reliable service. Run the engine till warm, stop the engine, re- move the sump plug at the rear of the engine and catch the waste oil in a bowl such as an ice cream container. Refill to the required oil level using the manufacturer’s recommended oil.

Transit: Avoid tipping the mower backwards either in transit or for service as this may allow the engine oil to pass into the cyl- inder head, carburettor and exhaust. The mower handle should not be lower than 45cm off the ground but can be rested on a chair to adjust the blades.
