This feature allows you to index the starting points of programs that you have recorded on a tape. Then, you can easily rewind or fast forward to that point.
Example:
If you are watching program number 4 and you want to fast for- ward to program number 7, skip three programs.

Within 10 seconds, use the Number buttons to enter the number of programs that you want to skip. For example, to skip three programs, press Number buttons 0, 3. If you do not make an entry within 10 seconds, the VCR will exit Index Search mode.

Within 10 seconds, press the F.FWD/B button or the
REW(ind)/{ button to skip forward or backward. The VCR will fast forward or rewind to the beginning of the desired program, then begin playback. (The program numbers count down

Helpful Hints
•Every time an index mark is skipped, the number of programs decreases by one.
•Up to 20 index marks may be searched.
•This function will not operate in recording mode.
•Press the STOP/p button to stop the search.
•An index mark will be made auto- matically when the REC(ord)/OTR button is pressed, or at the begin- ning of a Timer Recording or OTR.
•The index mark is not made where the PAUSE/STILL button is pressed and released during recording.
•The time gap between index marks should be greater than 1 minute for SP recording, 2 minutes for LP recording, and 3 minutes for SLP
