Break-In

When you first begin to play your speakers, they will sound a bit bass shy. This is due to the high quality, long-life components used in the drivers.

Allow approximately 72 hours of break-in at 90 dB (moderate listening levels) before any critical listening.

Speaker Placement

Achieving Superior Imaging

These MartinLogan in-ceiling speakers offer superb imaging and flexible placement in nearly any loca- tion. However, for best performance and imaging place speakers equidistant from one another and avoid physical obstructions between the speaker and primary listening position.

Balancing Hard vs.. Soft Surfaces Improves High- and Mid-Frequency Performance

Rooms that are “over damped” with carpeting, drapes, and other sound absorbers can cause your system to sound dull and lifeless. On the other hand, rooms can have so many hard surfaces that the system sounds like a gymnasium. Experiment by adding or removing soft surfaces until you find a mix that sounds good to you.

Choosing a Mounting Location

Install the Helos 12 and Helos 22 between ceiling joists. Be careful to avoid electrical wires behind the wall and ceiling surfaces.

Balancing Bass Output

Corner placement of these speakers will reinforce their bass output. If you require balanced output across the entire audio spectrum avoid mounting these speakers in a corner.

When choosing placement follow these simple tips:

Place a minimum of 12” (30cm) from any wall corner.

Place front and center channels equidistant between 10–14 feet (3–4.3m) from the lis- tening position.

Orient the tweeter towards the listening position.

12, 22 specifications

MartinLogan is renowned for its pioneering work in the audio industry, particularly in producing high-quality electrostatic loudspeakers. Among its acclaimed product lineup, the MartinLogan 12 and 22 models stand out for their exceptional performance and innovative technology.

The MartinLogan 12 is a premium electrostatic speaker that combines advanced engineering with aesthetic design. One of its standout features is the Speakers' electrostatic transducer, which ensures flawless sound reproduction across the entire frequency spectrum. The transducer is powered by a highly efficient Direct Drive technology that delivers clear and detailed audio, allowing listeners to experience music and movies as if they are in the recording studio or cinema. Additionally, the MartinLogan 12 includes a dynamic woofer that enhances low-frequency performance, providing a well-rounded audio profile.

The MartinLogan 22, on the other hand, is a more compact yet powerful option. It retains the electrostatic technology that MartinLogan is famous for while offering a slightly different design to suit smaller spaces. The 22 model features a refined hybrid design, combining a stunning electrostatic panel with a robust woofer that produces deep bass and rich mids. This makes it more versatile in various room sizes and configurations.

Both models benefit from MartinLogan’s advanced engineering, including PrecisionWave technology, which aims to improve sound dispersion and increase the perceived soundstage. This technology creates a more immersive listening experience, allowing sound to envelop the room rather than emanate from a specific point.

Furthermore, the build quality of MartinLogan's speakers is exemplary, featuring premium materials and craftsmanship. The cabinets are designed to minimize resonance, ensuring pure sound reproduction free from distortion.

In summary, the MartinLogan 12 and 22 loudspeakers reflect a commitment to excellence in audio engineering. With their advanced electrostatic technology, powerful woofers, and stunning aesthetics, these models are ideal for audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts alike, promising an unparalleled listening experience that showcases the true essence of music and film.
