2.Report: A message sent by a host to the queries to indicate that the host wants to be or is a member of a given group indicated in the report message.

3.Leave Group: A message sent by a host to the queries to indicate that the host has quit the membership of a specific multicast group.

5.8.2 Static MAC Address

When users add a static MAC address, it remains in the SP3508A’s address table, regardless of whether the device is physically connected to the switch. This saves the SP3508A from having to re-learn a device's MAC address when disconnected or powered-off. Following is the procedure for adding a static MAC address.

1.From the main menu, click administrator, then click Filter Database.

2.Click Static MAC Addresses.

3.In the MAC address box, enter the MAC address to and from which the port should permanently forward traffic, regardless of the device's network activity.

4.In the Port Number box, select a port number.

5.If tag-based (IEEE 802.1Q) VLANs are set up on the SP3508A, static addresses are associated with individual VLANs. Type the VID (tag-based VLANs) to associate with the MAC address.

6.Click <Add>.
