Receiving a Text Message

Note: You must set up the text message inbox before you can receive text messages. See “Setting Up the Text Message Inbox” on page 111.

When you receive a new message, your phone displays the X (message waiting) indicator and a New Message notification, and gives an alert. If reminders are turned on, your phone sends a reminder every five minutes until you close the new message notification, read the message, or turn off your phone. (See “Reminders” on page 148.)

From the new message notification:

As memory space for storing messages gets close to full, the X (message waiting) indicator flashes and your phone displays Memory is Low! when you receive a new message. When no more messages can be stored, your phone displays Memory is Full! and the network temporarily holds your new messages. To receive these new messages, you must delete some existing messages from your inbox, outbox, or drafts folder.
