Choosing a Text Entry Method

Multiple text entry methods make it easy for you to enter names, numbers, and messages. The method you select remains active until you select another method.

Press #in any text entry screen to select 1 of the following entry methods:

3ULPDU\	The primary text entry method (see below
	to set).
1XPHULF	Enter numbers only (see page 55).
6\PERO	Enter symbols only (see page 55).
6HFRQGDU\	The secondary text entry method (see
	below to set).

Alternatively, you can select a text entry method in any text entry screen by pressing M > (QWU\ 0RGH.

Setting Up a Text Entry Method

Press M > (QWU\ 6HWXS from any text entry screen. Select 3ULPDU\ 6HWXS or 6HFRQGDU\ 6HWXS, and choose:

L7$3	Let the phone predict each word as you
	press keys (see page 53).
7DS	Enter letters and numbers by pressing a
	key 1 or more times.
7DS￿([WHQGHG	Enter letters, numbers, and symbols by
	pressing a key 1 or more times.
1RQH	Hide the Secondary setting (only available
	for Secondary Setup).
