Audyssey Auto Setup and Room Calibration

The Audyssey™ auto-setup and room calibration functions on NAD’s AV receivers and preamp exploit today’s extraordinarily powerful yet affordable digital signal processing (DSP) to improve real-world sound reproduction. Audyssey auto setup employs the supplied calibrated microphone; simply locate the microphone at the listening position and engage the Audyssey system via a single remote-control key. The AV receiver or preamp automatically detects the connected loudspeaker layout, verifies correct connections, selects ideal crossover points, and adjusts each speaker’s level and delay with precision that would be difficult or impossible to duplicate by ear alone.

NAD’s proprietarily enhanced Audyssey MultEQ XT* technology, the latest in digital sophistication, enables home theatres to sound the way they were intended in every seat by removing the distortion caused by room acoustics. Using the calibration microphone to “hear” your room, a series of test tones measure the speakers’ response and the room’s distorting acoustic reflections independently, and then calculates an ideal response that minimizes the effects of these reflections – Dialogue intelligibility is dramatically improved, precise imaging and sound stage are enhanced and the accurate localization of instruments for musical balance is optimised. While this sounds simple, the digital technology that is required for this level of performance would have cost many thousands of dollars

just a few short years ago.

Four Zone Control

A whole-house sound system allows you to easily enjoy your favourite music with independent source and volume control in each room or zone. With control for as many as three remote zones, NAD AV receivers allow you to listen, for example, to the radio in one area, compact discs in another, and to enjoy your iPod

through your NAD system in a third. Or you can fill your home with seamless sound that welcomes one and all. Your local NAD audio/video specialist can make it all happen.

NAD Green & Eco Friendly

At NAD, we take our responsibilities to the planet very seriously: after all, we live here too. NAD has already undertaken to mitigate our industrial impact upon the environment, both by imposing strict measures in all our product designs to eliminate questionable materials or processes, and by re- engineering our factories and manufacturing practices to abolish or reduce levels of environmentally undesirable substances. Our universal use of lead- free solder throughout NAD manufacturing, and the re-design of our circuit- board production to do away with certain chemical compounds are only two examples. Today’s NAD products are created in the

most modern, “green” manufacturing facilities available to us, and as our knowledge grows, and the techniques of enviro-friendly manufacturing develop worldwide, we will continue to pursue forward-thinking, environmentally aware manufacturing.

3020 specifications

The NAD 3020 is a classic integrated amplifier that has gained a legendary status among audiophiles since its launch in 1978. Known for its incredible sound quality and value for money, the NAD 3020 has become a reference point in the realm of affordable audio equipment.

One of the main features of the NAD 3020 is its high current design, allowing it to drive a wide range of speaker impedances. This capability ensures that the amplifier can deliver a dynamic sound, characterized by a robust bass response and clear treble. With a power output of 20 watts per channel into 8 ohms, the NAD 3020 is often underestimated due to its modest specifications. However, it can produce remarkable sound pressure levels and handle transient peaks with ease.

The amplifier utilizes a simplified circuit design, which is one of its defining characteristics. This minimalist approach reduces potential signal distortion, enabling the amplifier to maintain sonic integrity. The use of discrete components rather than integrated circuits contributes to its rich, detailed audio reproduction, making it a favorite among purists.

Another key technology featured in the NAD 3020 is its unique power supply design. NAD engineers incorporated a toroidal transformer, which is known for its compact size and low electromagnetic interference. This results in cleaner power delivery, which is essential for maintaining audio clarity and depth.

The NAD 3020 is also equipped with multiple inputs, including phono, line-level, and tape inputs, making it versatile for various audio sources. The built-in phono stage supports moving magnet cartridges, allowing vinyl enthusiasts to connect their turntables directly to the amplifier without needing a separate phono preamplifier.

In terms of build quality, the NAD 3020 features a sturdy chassis that minimizes vibrations, ensuring that audio performance remains stable. The user-friendly design includes a straightforward control layout, allowing users to adjust volume and tone settings with ease.

Throughout its decades-long legacy, the NAD 3020 has influenced countless audio products and remains a benchmark for entry-level amplification. Its combination of power, clarity, and affordability makes it a beloved choice for both new listeners and seasoned audiophiles seeking a dependable amplifier that doesn't compromise on sound quality. The NAD 3020 exemplifies how great engineering can lead to remarkable audio experiences, solidifying its place in the history of hi-fi audio.
