6.PRECAUCIONES PARA LA CONEXIÓN EN CC

6.1Todos los conmutadores deben estar en posición APAGADO (O) y el cordón CA debe estar desconectado del tomacorriente antes de conectar y desconectar las pinzas del cargador. Nunca permita que las pinzas se toquen entre sí.

6.2Conecte las pinzas a los postes de la batería y tuérzalas o muévalas de adelante atrás varias veces para asegurar buena conexión. Esto tiende a evitar que las pinzas se resbalen de los terminales, a prevenir chispas peligrosas, y asegurar proceso de carga más seguro y más eficiente.

Mantenga las pinzas limpias.

PRECAUCIÓN: EL HABER PUESTO LOS CONMUTADORES EN APAGADO (O) NO SIEMPRE DESCONECTA EL CIRCUITO ELÉCTRICO DEL CARGADOR DEL CORDÓN DE POTENCIA CA O DE LAS PINZAS CC DEL CARGADOR.

7.PARA CARGAR LA BATERÍA EN EL VEHÍCULO O EQUIPO, O CONECTADO AL MOTOR

7.1Antes de trabajar en el vehiculo, engrane el freno de mano firmemente y ponga el cambio de marcha en NEUTRO—en caso de transmisión automática coloque el cambio en ESTACIONAMIENTO.

7.2Coloque el cargador tan lejos de la batería como los cordones del cargador lo permitan y posicione los cordones CA y CC de modo tal que no se los puede pisar o tropezar, y para evitar daños causados por la capota, las puertas o las piezas móviles del motor.

7.3Manténgase alejado de las aspas del ventilador, las correas, las poleas y cualquier otra pieza que pueda ocasionar lesiones físicas.

7.4APAGUE todas las cargas del vehiculo, incluyendo las luces de las puertas, y corrija todo defecto en el sistema eléctrico del automóvil que pueda haber sido causa de batería baja.

7.5Verifique la polaridad de los postes de la batería. El poste POSITIVO (POS.,+) generalmente posee diámetro mayor que el poste NEGATIVO (NEG.,-).

7.6Determine cuál poste de la batería está puesto a tierra (conectado) al chasis. Si el poste negativo está puesto a tierra (como sucede en la mayoría de los vehículos). vea el párrafo 7.7. Si el poste positivo está puesto a tierra, viera el párrafo 7.8.

7.7Para vehículos con puesto a tierra negativo, primero conecte la pinza POSITIVA (ROJA) del cargador al poste POSITIVO (POS., P,+) de la batería no puesto a tierra. Luego conecte la pinza NEGATIVA (NEGRA) al chasis del vehiculo o al bloque del motor lejos de la batería. No conecte la pinza al carburador, a las líneas de combustible o a las partes de carrocería de chapa de metal. Conéctela a una parte de metal grueso del armazón o al bloque del motor. Al desconectar el cargador, ponga el conmutador en APAGADO (O), desconecte el cordón CA, remueva la pinza del chasis del vehículo, y luego remueva la pinza del terminal de la batería.
