How to Configure an Ad-hoc Mode Profile

Note: Ad-hoc mode will not work using DHCP settings. Ad-hoc mode requires either static IP addresses (such as 192.168.0.1). For instructions on setting up static IP addresses on a Windows PC, refer to the PC Networking Tutorial included on the NETGEAR RangeMax™ Wireless PC Card WPN511 Resource CD.

Follow the instructions below to configure an Ad-hoc mode profile.

1. Run the WPN511 Smart Wizard Wireless Utility.

a.Make sure the WPN511 software is installed and the WPN511 is fully inserted in an available CardBus slot in your PC.

Click the WPN511 icon

in the Windows system tray to open the Smart Wizard

d.Select Computer-to-Computer (Ad hoc) for the Network Type.

e.Enter the SSID for the Ad-Hoc network.
