7. The Personal Directory
You can store up to 100 numbers and associated names in your “Personal Directory”.
Stored numbers may be up to 16 digits long. Stored names may be up to 16 characters long. The phone provides you with 8 extended number locations (any you choose) that allow the stored number to contain up to 30 digits in addition to the name.
The identical name may be used only once in memory. REPLACE NAME? appears when you try to store a name already in memory.
Alpha Mode
To enter names, retrieve numbers based on names, and view names, press A. The phone displays ABC to indicate that you can use keys to enter letters as well as numbers, and that you are viewing names rather than numbers.
When a number is displayed, press Ato see the associated name (if there is one). When a name is displayed, press Ato see the associated number.
When ABC is displayed, you can enter these characters:

Note: If you include the character ! in the stored name, the phone rings distinctly when receiving calls from that number. See the “Making and Receiving Calls” chapter for more information.
When entering letters, press and hold the key to switch between upper case and lower case letters. Press C to correct a mistake.
