This chapter provides basic instructions for backing up and restoring the Nokia Intellisync directory structure, files, and data on a Linux server that uses a Sybase SQL Anywhere database.

Note

The following backup instructions are written for the most common Nokia Intellisync Mobile Suite configuration on a Linux server. Because your server configuration may be different, Nokia recommends that you adapt these general instructions to your existing backup policies and procedures.

Backing Up the Nokia Intellisync Server

Nokia recommends that you back up your Nokia Intellisync Mobile Suite data on a regular basis. In addition, it is important that you follow the backup procedure in the order outlined in this section to ensure that various parts of your system remain synchronized.
