INFORMACIÓN GENERAL ACERCA DEL CORAZÓN Y LAS MEDICIONES DE ECG

El corazón es una bomba muscular controlada por impulsos eléctricos generados por el cuerpo. Se divide por la mitad mediante el septo y cada mitad tiene dos cámaras, una aurícula y un ventrículo, unidas por una válvula que se abre en un solo sentido. La aurícula y el ventrículo izquierdos controlan la sangre oxigenada, mientras que la aurícula y ventrículo derechos controlan la sangre desoxigenada (“usada”).

El impulso eléctrico que provoca los latidos del corazón se disemina a través de las aurículas, lo que hace que las aurículas izquierda y derecha se contraigan y bombeen sangre hacia los ventrículos izquierdo y derecho, respectivamente. Luego, los dos ventrículos se contraen y bombean sangre hacia fuera del corazón. Luego, el músculo cardíaco se relaja, o repolariza, lo que permite que la sangre vuelva a llenar el corazón.
