For details on [REC] Mode menu settings, refer to P27.

This allows the focusing method that suits the positions and number of the subjects to be selected.

Applicable modes:

Focus will keep on following the subject even if it moves.

(Dynamic tracking)

The camera focuses on up to 11 focus areas per selected AF

[

]: 11-area-focusing

area pattern. This is effective when the subject is not in the

center of the screen. In motion picture recording, 9 focus

¢[Ø] will be used during motion picture recording.

Note

If multiple AF areas (up to 11) turn on in [ ], focus is adjusted on all of the AF areas illuminated. If you want to determine the focus position to take pictures, switch the AF Mode to [ƒ], [Ø] or [Ù].

If the AF Mode is set to [ ], the AF area is not displayed until the picture is brought into focus.

Switch the AF Mode to [ƒ] or [Ø] if it is difficult to focus using [Ù].

The camera may detect the subjects other than a person as the face. In this case, switch the AF Mode to any modes other than [š] and then take a picture.
