Short Text Messages

You can receive, display, edit and/or send short text messages, of up to 160 characters to mobile phones on the same network or any network that has a roaming agreement.

Setting the Phone for Text Messages

Before you can send a message you must enter the Message Centre number into Parameters (your Service Provider will supply the Message Centre number).

The Message Centre number may have been preprogrammed, on your SIM card.

Setting the Message Centre Number

1From Idle mode press B 3163 to enter the Message Centre menu and press B

2Enter message centre number in international dial format – see “International Dialling” page 6

Sending a Text Message

1From Idle mode press B 313 to enter the Create menu and press B

2Enter the message (up to 160 characters) – see “Text Entry” page 42 and press B

You will be prompted if you wish to send the message, if you do not wish to send the message press C, the message will be stored.

3Press B and enter the destination phone number (or recall a number from the Phonebook) - see “Retrieve a Number” page 11 and press B

5You may be asked if you wish to have delivery confirmation, if you want

confirmation press B. If you do not, use f until is displayed in the option area, then press B

The default setting for delivery confirmation can be enabled/disabled using the Report parameter in the Short Message menu.

6Use e to select a melody type, if required, and press B
