The focus of the flat screen TV market, especially within the premium class segment, has shifted towards a slim, lightweight design utilising high- end materials. Taking this trend into account, a key factor of importance in the 2008 Panasonic VIERA design approach is to integrate European style and taste into this year‘s range of VIERA TVs. The approach to the design process can be described as “Innovative Design”. The basic concept central to innovative design includes continuous innovation, values for the future and a keen sensitivity to harmony and balance in the home.

In comparison to its predecessor, the 2008 design has been enhanced and yet has retained its consistency, from the smaller-sized LCD TVs right through to the largest Plasma TVs. The result of our endeavours towards a unique

design concept is to use one she of glass making the screen completely flat, thus giving it the impression of it literally “floating”. This is a major step for Panasonic: developing a unique concept in one year while maintaining the design and the renowned Panasonic construction quality. Historically, the Panasonic brand has been addressing a more mature consumer base than other brands; therefore to meet the needs of these consumers, we have maintained a progressive, sensitive and timeless design rather than turning to an avant-garde, trendy design. With that said, we have been regenerating the brand to address the needs of a younger consumer base as well. VIERA‘s simple, straight line and organically- balanced shape makes for an overall attractive design that stands out from the crowd.
