Operating a television

Preparation

Face the remote control at this unit and press [TV]. You can now

operate the television.

Face the remote control at the television for the following operations.

Turning the television on/off

Press [Í AV SYSTEM].

Switching the television’s video input mode

Press [TV/AV].

Changing channels

Press [:, X CH] or [9, CH W ] .

You can also use the numbered buttons.

Adjusting the volume

Press [TV VOL r ] or [TV VOL s ].

Operating a video cassette recorder

Preparation

Face the remote control at this unit and press [VCR]. You can operate the video cassette recorder.

Change the video input mode on the television (“VIDEO 2” in the example).

Face the remote control at the video cassette recorder for the following operations.

Turning the video cassette recorder on/off

Press [Í AV SYSTEM].

Play, pause and stop

Press [1], [;] or [].

Fast forward and rewind

Press [6] or [5].

You can connect a laser disc or record player instead of a video cassette recorder.

Connect as shown left and select “VCR” as the source.

When connecting a record player

We recommend using a record player with a built-in phono equalizer. If your player doesn’t have a built-in equalizer, connect it first to a separate equalizer and then connect that to this unit.

You cannot record input through TV OPT2 to other equipment.

Press [VCR] to select “VCR” as source.

Listening to the surround signals from a digital

receiver

This unit can decode the surround signals received through digital broadcasts. Refer to your satellite receiver’s operating instructions for details.

1Press [TV] to select “TV OPT2”.

DIGITAL INPUT indicator lights up.

2Operate the digital receiver.

For your reference

In rare cases, the unit may have trouble recognizing the PCM signals on CDs, which may cause the beginning of a track to be cut off. Engage PCM FIX if this occurs.

While “TV OPT2” is selected, press and hold [TV].

 

The mode switches each time you do this

 

AUTO()PCM FIX

 

The unit cannot process other signals while PCM FIX is on.

 

This may cause noise to be output.
