Dolby Pro Logic

Dolby Pro Logic is a decoding system that was developed to get a better sense of presence from sources encoded with Dolby Surround. The feeling of position has been improved by the addition of a separate center speaker channel.

Software encoded with Dolby Surround can be identified with this mark (DVD, CD, Video CD, Laser Disc, Video tape).

1 Press [ÎPL].

2 Play a Dolby Surround source.

Press [ÎPL] again.

[Note]

This does not work when playing multi-channel Dolby Digital.

Speaker level adjustments

If the level of the speakers appears to be different while listening to a source, adjust the level of the speakers to the same apparent level.

Preparation

Press [DVD/CD].

1Press and hold [–TEST] to output a test signal. Lch: Front left

Cch: Center

Rch: Front right

RSch: Right surround

LSch: Left surround

2Press [VOLUME, r] or [s] to set the volume level normally used for enjoying the source.

3Press [3] (to increase) or [4] (to decrease).

L, R: j16 dB to 0 dB

C, RS, LS: j10 dB to i6 dB

To stop the test signal, press and hold [–TEST] again.

To adjust speaker level during play

1Press [CH SELECT] to select the speaker. Lch>Cch>Rch>RSch>LSch>SWch

SWch: Subwoofer

You can only adjust SWch if the disc includes a subwoofer channel.

2Press [3] (to increase) or [4] (to decrease).

L, R: j16 dB to 0 dB

C, RS, LS: j10 dB to i6 dB

SW: j10 dB to i10 dB

Super Surround

Add surround effects to stereo sound.

Press [S.SRND].

You can adjust the volume of the surround speakers to get the best surround effect (above, Speaker level adjustments).

[Note]

Turn Super Surround off when playing a DVD recorded with Dolby Digital or DTS. The surround effects will not be reproduced correctly if this is left on.
