The internal processor creates 600 sub-fields from
the initial signal input, reproducing 12 sub-fields
to display 1 frame. By using an intelligent algorithm
based on motion detection, the best motion flow is
created to deliver the sharpest moving pictures with
full detail.
INTELLIGENT SCENE CONTROLLER
This system adjusts the backlight brightness according
to the scene. In dark scenes, the backlight is dimmed to
reproduce deeper blacks.

The incorporation of a new Real Black Drive system
has led the way to achieving the staggering dynamic
contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 2) in the VIERA Plasma
TV range. Pictures appear 3-dimensional and the high
contrast adds more sharpness to the pictures.
THX CERTIFIED4) DISPLAY
THX reproduces movie images exactly as the movie’s
creators intended them to be. In the early 1980s, Lucasfi lm
established the THX Standard to stipulate the audio and
video quality criteria for cinema environments. The overall
aim was to improve the experience of cinema-goers and
faithfully recreate the audio and visual ambience that
fi lmmakers intended. VIERA Z and V Series Plasma models
meet the high standards set by the THX Certifi ed Display
programme.

an intelligent algorithm based on motion detection,
the best combination of frames is created to deliver
the sharpest moving pictures with full detail.
24P SMOOTH FILM
For perfectly smooth movie images, 24p Smooth Film
increases the number of frames displayed. In VIERA
TVs, that means new frames are inserted, based on the
original 24 frames of the movie source, and the frame
count is increased to up to 96 frames per second.
100HZ INTELLIGENT FRAME CREATION (LCD)
When watching fast-moving sports events or fi lms on
TV, you want to enjoy all the action without motion blur.
By creating intermediate, interpolated frames and
inserting them between the original frames, VIERA LCD
TVs are able to deliver crystal-clear images, especially
when fast motion is displayed.
100HZ DOUBLE SCAN (PLASMA)
The standard European PAL broadcast signal is 50Hz
– meaning that the on-screen image on your TV is
refreshed 50 times per second. VIERA Plasma TVs have
a built-in 100Hz Double Scan technology which doubles
the screen refresh rate, resulting in fl icker-free images.
24P PLAYBACK
In VIERA LCD TVs, every frame is shown 4 times,
which increases the 24p signal to 96Hz. So you can
enjoy films at their original frame rate, just as the
director intended.
MOTION FOCUS (LCD)
Motion Focus technology lets you enjoy crisp motion or
moving image parts, such as scrolling news tickers, which
can sometimes be diffi cult to read. It works by intelligently
blinking the backlight of the LCD – and is automatically
triggered by the fast-moving content on the TV.
10-BIT PANEL (LCD)
Experience the benefits of 10 Bit processing. By using
a 10-bit display panel in our high-end LCD series1),
VIERA is capable of reproducing 64 times the number
of colours reproduced by an ordinary 8-bit LCD panel.
0.001 MILLISECOND RESPONSE TIME (PLASMA)
Plasma technology needs only one impulse per pixel
to produce an image, resulting in a response time is only
1 millisecond. This is a thousand times faster compared
to other TV technologies and makes VIERA Plasma

V-REAL 4 / V-REAL PRO 4
All VIERA TVs are equipped with the Panasonic
award-winning V-real picture enhancement technology
which perfectly optimises the performance of the display
panel – to render smooth, crystal-clear motion without
compromising on delicate colours with rich graduation.
Our 2009 freesat Full HD models are equipped with V-real
PRO 4, while our HD ready models feature V-real 4.
6,144 GRADATION STEPS (NEOPDP)3)
The equivalent of 6,144 steps of gradation assures
smooth, rich image expression. This superb gradation
performance means that even the delicate shades of
colours in a sunrise are accurately reproduced.
DIGITAL CINEMA COLOUR
VIERA‘s wide colour gamut covers 120% of the HDTV colour
standard. This approaches the level of colours in cinemas
and produces images with extremely rich colours.
X.V. COLOUR
Digital high-defi nition TV broadcast transmissions
are based on a set of specifi cations called the
HDTV Standard. VIERA‘s large colour gamut covers 110%
of the HDTV colour standard.
