42 Videotape Playback Features

Slow Motion

1 Press PAUSE k during playback to pause the videotape. Then press i/g to start slow motion. Sound will be mute during slow motion. Slow motion will stop automatically after 5 minutes to prevent damage to the tape.

2 Press PLAY B to return to normal playback.

Forward and Reverse Searching (SP/LP/SLP)

1 During videotape playback, press and release j/h or i/g. A fast forward or reverse picture search will begin.

2 Press PLAY B to return to normal playback.

Super High Speed Searching (LP/SLP)

1 During tape playback, press

j/h or i/g, then press again. The TV/VCR/DVD will search the tape in high speed. Press j/h or i/g repeatedly to switch between Regular and High Speed Searching.

2 Press PLAY B to return to normal playback.

Viewing a Still Picture

1 During tape playback, press PAUSE k.

A still picture will appear on the screen. The picture advances each time you press PAUSE k.

After a tape is paused for 5 minutes, playback will stop automatically. This prevents damage to the tape and TV/VCR/DVD.

2 If the still picture vibrates vertically, stabilize the picture by pressing CH. o or p.

3 To release the still picture and return to normal playback, press PLAY B.

Helpful Hints

SP/LP/SLP means this feature will work with tapes recorded in Standard Playback, Long Playback or Super Long Playback. LP/SLP means this feature will work with tapes recorded in Long Playback and Super Long Playback. Tape speed details are on page 29.

During forward and reverse searching, horizontal noise bars will appear on the screen.
