Difference between upper-arm and wrist measurement

The blood pressure measured with a watch-type blood pressure monitor may differ from the values measured on the upper arm. Measurement with a wrist blood pressure monitor may show a difference of up to 10 mmHg in a healthy adult.

In those who suffer from hypertension, arteriosclerosis, diabetes, kidney failure and other disorders of the circulation system, the difference may exceed 10 mmHg. In that case measurement on the upper arm is to be preferred.

In case of doubt, consult your doctor about the best method in your case or make a comparison between a measurement on the upper arm and one on the wrist.

Philips has established itself as a leader in wellness and lifestyle products, particularly through its innovative light therapy devices. Among their notable offerings are the Philips HF321 and HF319, which are designed to combat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and enhance overall mood through light exposure.

The Philips HF321 is a premium light therapy model featuring a sleek and modern design. One of its standout characteristics is the incorporation of a large light surface that delivers bright white light with a powerful intensity of up to 10,000 lux. This level of brightness is effective in mimicking natural sunlight, which can be particularly beneficial during the long, dark winter months. The HF321 is equipped with a unique innovation: it utilizes energy-efficient LED technology that not only provides a bright and consistent light output but also ensures low energy consumption, making it an eco-friendly choice for consumers.

On the other hand, the Philips HF319 is a compact and user-friendly alternative. This model retains many essential features of the HF321 but is designed for individuals who prefer portability and simplicity. The HF319 is lightweight and easy to move around, making it suitable for use in various settings, whether at home or in the office. With a light intensity of up to 10,000 lux, it effectively mimics natural light, helping to alleviate symptoms of seasonal affective disorder and improve overall well-being.

Both models are designed with user comfort in mind. They come with adjustable brightness settings, allowing users to customize their light exposure according to their individual preferences. The HF321 and HF319 are engineered to provide flicker-free light, which is crucial for a comfortable viewing experience, especially during extended use. Additionally, both devices are designed to emit UV-free light, ensuring safety while delivering effective results.

Another important feature is the timer function available in both models, which allows users to set their sessions for convenient durations. This ensures that users can achieve their light therapy goals without the need for constant supervision. Overall, the Philips HF321 and HF319 light therapy devices combine advanced technologies with user-centric designs, making them excellent choices for anyone seeking to improve their mood and well-being during the darker months of the year.
