Éa direção do fluxo de dados a partir do host ou para fora, a partir do "host". Uma porta descendente é a porta em um hub eletricamente mais distante do host, que gera tráfego de dados descendentes a partir do hub. As portas descendentes recebem tráfego de dados ascendentes.

Ascendente

Éa direção do fluxo de dados em direção ao host. Uma porta ascendente é a porta em um dispositivo eletricamente mais próximo ao host, que gera tráfego de dados a partir do hub. As portas ascendentes recebem tráfego de dados descendentes.
