Connect and charge
Warning
Important: SA018 uses the USB connection
with the computer to up date internal
software. To prevent d ata loss and produc t
malfunction, do not d isconnect duri ng the
update process.
SA018 has a built-in battery that can be
charged as follows:
through the combined he adphone / USB
jack of SA018, from a computer (wit h the
supplied USB cable)
through the combined he adphone / USB
jack of SA018, directly from t he power
supply (with a charger, sold sepa rately)
Note
While SA018 is connected to a computer or
power supply, all controls a nd functions are
inactive.
SA018 remains in off-mode a fter charging
process is completed.

Connect the supplied USB cable

1 Connect the USB plug of th e supplied
USB cable to a spare USB por t on your
computer.
2 Connect the special US B plug of the
supplied USB cable to the co mbined
headphone / USB jack on SA018.
3 Turn on your computer.
SA018 charges. »
Note
For first-time use, al low SA018 to charge for
3 hours.
While SA018 is connected to a computer, all
controls and functi ons are inactive .
The amber charging L ED changes to green
when the charging pr ocess is completed. Fo r
more information on L ED status indica tors,
see section Status indicators and th eir
meanings.

Connect the earphones

This is how to connect the supplied earphones:
Install the Philips Device Manager software
System requirements:
Windows® (2000, XP, Vist a)
Pentium III 800 MHz pr ocessor or higher
128 MB RAM
500 MB hard disk space
Internet connection
Microsoft® Inter net Explorer 6.0 o r later
USB port
1 Connect the mini USB plu g of the
supplied cable to SA018.
2 Connect the stand ard USB plug of the
supplied cable to your compu ter.
A pop-up window appears on the »
computer.
3 From the pop-up window, sel ect Install
Philips Device Manager.
4 Follow the on-screen ins tructions to
complete the install ation of the Philips
Device Manager.
