Using the auto-equalizer
Theauto-equalizer is the equalizer cur ve cre-
atedby auto TA and EQ (refer to Auto TA and
EQ(auto-time alignment and auto-equalizing)
onpage 46).
Youcan turn the auto-equalizer on or off.
1 PressAUDIO and hold until second
audiomenu appears in the display, then
pressAUDIO to select AUTO EQ.
Aftersecond audio menu is displaye d, press
AUDIOuntil AUTO EQ appears in the display.
2 Pressato turn the auto-equalizer on.
AutoEQ ON appears in the display.
#Toturn auto-equalizer off, press b.
#Pleaseset Auto EQ appears. This indicates
thatyou cannot turn the auto-equalizer on if auto
TAand EQ has not been carried out.
Recalling equalizer curves
Theequalizer lets you adjust the equalization
tomatch car interior acoustic characteristics
asdesired.
Thereare seven stored equalizer curves which
youcan easily recall at any time. Here is a list
ofthe equalizer curves:

!CUSTOM1and CUSTOM2 are adjusted
equalizercurves that youcreate. Adjust-
mentscan be made with a 13-band graphic
equalizer.
!WhenFLAT is selected no supplement or
correctionis made to the sound. This is
usefulto check the effect of the equalizer
curvesby switching alternativelybetween
FLATand a set equalizer curve.
%PressEQ to select the equalizer.
PressEQ repeatedly to switch between the fol-
lowingequalizers:
SUPERBASSPOWERFULNATURAL
VOCALFLATCUSTOM1CUSTOM2
Adjusting equalizer curves
Thefactory supplied equalizer curves,with the
exceptionof FLAT, can be adjusted to a fine
degree(nuance control).
1 PressAUDIO to select EQ1.
PressAUDIO until EQ1 appears in the display.
2 Presscor dto select an equalizer
curve.
3 Pressaor bto adjust the equalizer
curve.
Eachpress of aor bincreases or decreases
theequalizer cur ve respectively.
+65(or 6) is displayed as the equalizer
curveis increased ordecreased.
#Theactual range of the adjustments are differ-
entdepending on which equalizer curve isse-
lected.
#Theequalizer curve with all frequencies set to
0cannotbe adjusted.
