Safety Rules and Precautions c an result in
serious injury.

KNOW YOUR UNIT

SReadyour ins truction manual caref ully until
you completely understand and canfollow
allwarnings and safety rules before operat-
ing this attachment.
DRestrict use of this attachment to us ers who
understand and will follow all warnings and
safety rules in this manual.

PLAN AHEAD

WARNING: Inspect area before use.
Remove all debris and hard objects such as
rocks, glass, wire, etc. that can ricochet, be
thrown, or otherwise cause injury or damage
during operation.
DAlways wear eye protection when operat-
ing, servicing, or performing maintenance
onthi s attachment. Wearing ey e protection
will help to prevent rocks or debris frombe-
ing blown or ricocheting into eyes and face
which can result in blindness and/or seri-
ous injury. Eye protection should be
marked Z87.
DAlways wear foot protection. Donot go
barefoot or wear sandals.
DAlways wear respirator or f ace mask when
working with unit in dusty environments.
DSecure hair above shoulder length. Secure
or remove jewelry, loose clothing, or cloth-
ing with loosely hanging straps, ties, tas-
sels, etc. They can be caught in moving
parts.
DDo not operate unit when you are tired, ill,
upset, or if you are under the influence of al-
cohol, drugs, or medication.
DKeep children, bystanders, and animals
away from work area a minimum of 30 f eet
(10met ers) when starting or operating uni t.
Do not point blower discharge opening in
the direction of people orpets.

FUEL SAFETY (for gas powerheads)

DEliminate all sources of sparks or f lame (in-
cluding smoking, open flames, or work that
cancause spark s) in the areas where fuel is
mixed, poured, or stored.
DMix and pour fuel in an outdoor area;store
fuel in a cool, dry, well ventilated place;use
an approved, marked container for all fuel
purposes.
DDo not smoke while handling fuel or while
operating the unit.
DMake sure the attachment is properly as-
sembled and in good operating condit ion.
DDo notf ill fuel tank while engine is running.
DAvoid spilling fuel or oil. Wipe up fuel spills
before starting engine.
DMove atleast 10 feet (3 meters) away from
fuel and fueling site before startingengine.
DAlways store gasoline in a container ap-
proved for flammable liquids.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY (for electric

powerheads)

WARNING: Avoid a dangerous envi-
ronment. To reduce the risk of electrical shock,
do not use in rain, in damp or wet locations, or
around swimming pools, hot tubs, etc. Do not
exposet o snow, rain, or water to avoid the pos-
sibilityof electrical shock. Donot handle exten-
sion cord plug or unit with wet hands.
DUse only a voltage supply as shownon the
nameplate of the powerhead.
DAvoid dangerous situations. Do not use in
presence of flammable liquids or gases to
avoidcreating a fire or explosion and/or caus-
ing damage to unit.
DAvoid dangerous environments. Do not use
in unventilated areas or wheredust orexplo-
sive vapors can build up
DToreduce theris k of electrical shock, use
extension cords specifically mark ed as
suitable for outdoor appliances . The elec-
tricalrat ing ofthe cord must not be less than
the rating of the unit. The cord must be
marked with the suffix “W-A” (in Canada,
“W”). Makesure your extension cord is in
good condition. Inspect extensioncord be-
foreuse and replace ifdamaged. An under-
sized extension cord will cause a drop in
line voltage resulting in loss of power and
overheating. Ifin doubt, use the next heavi-
er gauge. The smaller the gauge number,
the heavier the cord.
DDo not use multiple cords.
DThe powerhead may have a polarized plug
(one blade is wider than the other); if so, it
will require the useof a polarized extension
cord. The appliance plugwill fit into a polar-
ized extension cord only one way. If the
plug does not fit fully into the extension
cord, reverse the plug. Ift he plug still does
not fit, obtain a c orrect polarized extension
cord. A polarized extension cord will re-
quiret he use of a polarized wall outlet . This
plug will fit into the polarized wall outlet only
oneway. If plug does not fit fully i nto the wall
outlet, reverse the plug. Ifit stil l does not fit,
contact a qualified electrician to install the
properwall outlet. Donot change the equip-
ment plug, extension cord receptacle, or
extension cord plug in any way.
DDonot attempt to repair unit. Inspectthe insu-
lation and connectors on the powerhead and
extension cord before each use. If there is
any damage, do not use until damage is re-
paired by your authorized servicedeal er.
DDo not pull orcarry by cord; do not use cord
asa handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord
around sharp edges or corners. Keep cord
awayfrom heated surfaces. Do not unplug by
pullingon cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not
the cord.
DDo not use the powerhead if the switch
does not turn the unit on and off properly.
