Hazard zone. Keep children, bystanders, and animals
a minimumof 50 feet (15 meters ) away from the work
area. Do not allow other people or animals to be near
when starting or operating the pruner.
Carefully plan your pruning operation in advance. Do not
start cutting until you have a clear work area, s ecure
footing, and a plannedr etreat path.
Do not operate a pruner with one hand. Serious injury to the
operator, helpers, bystanders or any combination of these
persons may result from one-handed operation. A pruneris
intended for two-handed use.
SAFETY RULES
WARNING: When us ing an electric
pruner or any other electric gardening ap-
pliance, basic safety precautions must al-
ways be followed to reduce the risk of fire,
electric shock, and serious injury. Read and
follow all instructions.
WARNING: Alw ays disconnect spark
plugwire and plac e wire where it cannot contact
spark plug (or disconnect unit from power
source) to prevent accidental st arting when set-
tingup, trans porting, adjusting or mak ing repairs
except carburetor adjustments.
Because a pruner is a high-s peed wood-cutting
tool, special safety precautions must be ob-
servedto r educe the risk of ac cidents. Car eless
orimproper us e of this tool can cause serious or
even fatal injury.

SKeep all parts of your body away from the
chain when the engine is running.
SDo not handle or operate a pruner when you
are fatigued, ill, or upset, or if you have taken
alcohol, drugs, or medication. You must be in
good physical condition and mentally alert. If
you have any condition that might be aggr a-
vated by strenuous work, check with doctor
before operating a pruner.

FUEL SAFETY (forgas engines)

SMix and pour fuel outdoors.
SKeep away from sparks or flames.
SUse a container approved for fuel.
SDo not smoke or allow smoking near fuel or
the unit.
SAvoids pilling fuel or oil. Wipe up all fuel s pills
before starting the unit.
SMove at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from
fueling site before starting engine.
SStop engine and allow to cool before remov-
ing fuel cap.
SRemovefuel cap slowly.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY (for electric

units)

WARNING : Avoid a dangerous envi-
ronment. To reduce the risk of electr ical shock,
do not use in rain, in damp or wet locations, or
around swimming pools, hot tubs, etc. Do not
expose to snow, rain, or water to avoid the pos-
sibility of electrical shock. Do not use on wet
surfaces. Do not handle extension cord pl ug or
unit with wet hands.
SUse only a voltage supply as s hown on the
nameplateof the unit.
