9 Scenario 3: Metering
Introduction To explain interface base metering we will take the setup from the previous scenario.
The total upload bandwidth availlable for this scenario is 512Kbps.
We reserved 50% of this bandwidth for EF traffic, meaning 256Kbps.
Now we would like to limit the bandwidth availlable for the Bronze group to 64Kbps.
Configuration To configure this meter proceed as followed:
1Go to the IP QoS page and select the Meter tab.
Expert mode -> IP Router -> IP QoS
Here you can add meters by clicking on the New button.
This will show you a configuration screen like shown in the figure above.
Now proceed as followed:
2Set Name to Bronze meter.
3Set Interface to lan3.
4Set Label to none (we use interface based metering).
5Set Drop rate to 64.
6Set Drop action to drop.
7Set Mark rate to 60.
8Set Mark action to mark.
9Set Burst size to 2.
10 Set Marking to disabled.

13 Click Apply to add the meter to the list.
