Using the Flash
Press the F (Flash) button to switch between flash modes. By
default, your c amera is set to Flash Off.
From the front edge of the lens, flashlight reaches about 0.2 to 3.0 m
when ISO sensitivity is set to AUTO.
Flash Modes

Make sure the camera power is on and turn the mode dial to
5, P, A, M, or SCENE.

Press the F (Flash) button to switch betw een flash modes.
The Flash mode mark appears mo mentarily in a large size at the center of
the LCD monitor and then is d isplayed at the upper left.
During flash charging, the flash lamp k eeps blinking. Once the flash is
charged, the lamp goes off and it is pos sible to shoot.
Note
When shooting in a d ark place, the flash cover po ps up automatically. After shooting, press
down the flash cover in place.
When other than the lithium-ion battery is used, the flash lamp icon is not displayed on the
LCD monitor during flash charging.
The settings are saved until you press the F (Flash) button to change them.
When shooting movie s or in Multi-Shot mode, the flas h turns off.
The flash fires twice to increase the AE/AF (Auto Ex posure/Auto Focus) accuracy.
The camera has a ho t shoe, allowing you to attach a n external flash (available in stores).

Flash Off The flash will not fire.
Auto When your subject is poorly lit or backlit, the flash fires automatically.
Red-eye reduction Reduces the red-eye phenomenon, in which people's eyes appear red
when shooting images of people.
Forced Flash The flash fires, whatever the light conditions are, when you shoot.
Slow Synchro
The flash fires with the shutter speed slowed. This is suitable when taking
portrait pictures in a nightscape. It is recommended to use a tripod.
External flash
Indicates that the external flash is attached.
