Connecting to an external amplifier or recorder

You can connect your radio to an external amplifi er or recorder. This may be a stand-alone unit or it may be part of your existing hi-fi system.

1.Connect the optical toslink connector to the optical input socket(s) on your amplifi er or recorder using a suitable cable.

Recording from your radio

Your radio has fi ve alarm/timers which can be set to switch on your radio at a preset day, time, and station. See section on page 21 for details on how to set alarm/timers

1.A programme/station can be recorded to an external device via the optical toslink connector located on the rear of your radio. Connect the optical toslink connector to the optical input socket(s) on your recorder using a suitable cable.

Most mini disc units have a record pause mode that enables the mini disc to start recording as soon as a signal appears on the mini disc input. When your radio switches on controlled by the alarm timer the mini disc will start recording.

Subsequent timer events are then recorded onto track 2,3, etc. Consult your hi-fi or mini disc user guide for further details. The volume on your radio can be set to 0 so that you will not be disturbed during the recording. The volume control does not affect the recording level.

Note: The timer record function is for personal use only.
