The V-Mixing System Advantage
To achieve superior sound quality, the I/O unit(s) (Digital Sn ake) and the mixer (V-Mixer) are separate. Before A /D
conversion, the input enters the discre etly designed, high-quality p reamp, which is then digitally trans mitted to the
mixer over REAC protocol. By having the mic preamp s closer to their source and by avoiding the transm ission
losses of long runs of analog cables, a udio has a chance to sound its best througho ut the whole system. The
system provides superior clear sou nd, great intelligibility and with th e wide range of Digital Snakes and RE AC
Merge Technology there is incredible flexi bility for placement of audio inpu ts and outputs on-stage, off-stage, at
FOH or in amplifier rooms.

Advantage #1 Superior Sound Quality
Knobs and buttons for Preamp, EQ, and PAN are located on the f ront panel of the V-Mixer for intuitive, analog-l ike
operation. Dedicated buttons for direct a ccess to the patchbay and effects are also lo cated on the front panel.
With the on-board HELP system it's easy to learn and op erate the V-Mixer.
Advantage #2 Intuitive User Interface
Simple and Flexible High-Quality Sound - REAC: N ext Generation Audio Transmission Technology
Stage monitoring is crucial in get ting the best performance from a ny artist. The V-Mixing System seamles sly
integrates with the M-48 Live Personal Mixer a llowing full control of set-up and mixing of any mus ician’s M-48
directly from the V-Mixer interface. Musi cian’s around the world have chosen the M-48 a s their personal mixing
system of choice because of the unpreced ented level of control and amazing sou nd quality.
Advantage #3 The Musician's Choice for Personal Mixing
The demand for live recording has incre ased as live sound mixing has becom e digital. Connecting a PC for
recording to the V-Mixing System is a simple Cat5e co nnection. Live recording of up to 40 channe ls is easily
captured with SONAR DAW software from Cakewalk. Addi tionally, you can record a master mix directly from the
V-Mixer to a USB flash drive.
The foundation of the V-Mixing S ystem is “REAC” (Rola nd Ethernet Audio Co mmunication), the dig ital audio transm ission technolog y developed by Rola nd. As a result of this tech nology, a
flexible V-Mixing System ca n be constructed to match a ny venue using the Dig ital Snake and other RE AC components. RE AC is an Ethernet based te chnology, allowing dev ices to be
connected easily with a sta ndard CAT5e LAN cable. RE AC can transmit up to 40 x40 channels of uncom pressed
24bit digital audio data, volum e level information, a nd various contro l data using a single c able.
Much more than just a console rep lacement.
Unlike other digital consol es, the V-Mixing System is n ot just a simple digital ve rsion of an analog
console. The V-Mixing Syste m offers a total soluti on for audio input an d output transmiss ion/splitting,
personal mixing and multi -channel recordi ng in a totally integrated sy stem. As the centerpie ce of the
system, the V-Mixer includes a bui lt-in recording/pla yback function and e ffects, digital s cene recall and
user customizations and lev el management. To replic ate all the functions of t he M-300 with an ana log
console system, a vast array of equ ipment would be requ ired. A 32ch analog conso le, 32 separate
compressors, 32 separate gate s, 4 separate stereo mul ti-effect units, 15 se parate 8-band param etric
EQs and delays, and a digital re corder. All that is built into t he M-300 with the adde d ability for ever y
setup to be easily saved and reca lled. More than a con sole - it's a complete syste m.
By placing the preamps as close to th e source as possible, soun d quality deteriorat ion during
transmission is minimized to th e lowest possible level.
In the past, multiple analog ca bles were used to trans mit data at low gain leve ls, which caused pro blems such as
unwanted noise, sound qualit y deterioration, a nd crosstalk betwe en channels. With R EAC, those problems h ave
been eliminated since the pre -amp gain is set before t he data is transmitte d digitally. REAC techno logy not only
provides superb sound qua lity, but also enabl es easy setup and ins tallation.
Advantage #4 Live Recording of Up to 40 Channels
At Covenant Family Worship Center (a mu lti-cultural, non-de nominational church in Fr edericksburg, Virgi nia),
technology and media depa rtment head Stephen W. Staf ford uses the V-Mixing Sy stem including the Live
Personal Mixing system for reg ular Sunday service s and other events. He finds t hat the V-Mixing System has
“allowed us to utilize volunteers wi th little or no previous au dio engineering exp erience to effecti vely control the
audio system”. He reflects that the benef its of the personal moni toring system are twofold. “ First, it relieves the
audio volunteers from the addi tional responsibili ty and concern for the mo nitor mix. Second, it allow s each
musician to tailor their stage mi x as needed on an indivi dual basis.” Stafford ackn owledges he enjoys the “stor e
and recall of settings, and sign al integrity over Cat5. In total, I’ve e xperienced state-of-th e-art audio product ion
on an unrivaled affordabi lity scale.”

The arena, which is based insi de the National Ice Centre, h olds many concerts/eve nts for major acts with a
capacity of 10,000. Adam Timson faci lities manager says “Th e brief we were working to was the se amless
replacement of our large 32 cha nnel analog mixing d esk ensuring there woul d be no loss of quality, feature s or
usability. We looked at quite a few dif ferent options but af ter consultation with S imon Taylor of One Big Star and
Andy Hague, our tame sound eng ineer, we decided the M-380 V-M ixer with Digital Snake b est suited our needs
and budget. It has a 19" footprint whic h allows us to move it easily a nd the Digital Snake me ans we can plug it in
using just a single mains lea d and single Cat5 cable. Si nce the M-380 was instal led we have been happy with i ts
performance and find th e menus easy to navigate. We are ab le to save specific set up s and still adjust on the fl y
when we need to. The desk is as flexi ble as we are.”

Pope Benedict XVI made a pil grimage to this sanctua ry in Fátima. Several cer emonies were held, whic h were
followed by more than 450,000 atten dees as well as millio ns of people around the wor ld through televisio n, radio
and internet. All these events wer e mixed and split via 5 M- 400 V-Mixers, and audio s ignals were distribu ted using
Digital Snake systems via cab le CAT5e to different split poi nts such as television, r adio and internet. Choo sing this
system was based on a previously s uccessful experi ence during a 2007 visit of Po pe Benedict XVI to Vale ncia
(Spain) where a large number of Di gital Snakes were inst alled. Fátima Sanctuar y has two V-Mixing Sys tems: one in
the control room of the sanctuar y as a central point for au dio monitoring and a se cond unit in the new Chur ch of the
Holy Trinity with a capacity of 90 00.
