K přetrvání obrazu nedochází, pokud je panel LCD provozován při běžných pod- mínkách.

Běžnými podmínkami se rozumí neustále se měnící obraz. Pokud je na panelu LCD po dlouhou dobu zobrazen statický obraz (více než 12 hodin), může dojít k malému rozdílu napětí mezi elektrodami ovlivňujícími tekuté krystaly (LC) v pix- elu. Rozdíl v napětí mezi elektrodami se postupem času zvyšuje, čímž dojde k naklonění tekutého krystalu. Pokud k tomu dojde, při změně obrazu je stále vi- ditelný předchozí obraz.

Aby k takové situaci nedošlo, musí být snížen rozdíl v napětí.
