Connecting to an Audio Device

Using an Optical (Digital) or Audio (Analogue) Cable or Headphone Connection
Available devices: digital audio system, amplifier, DVD home theatre
DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL)

When a digital audio system is conne cted to the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) ja ck, decrease the volume
of both the TV and the system.

5.1 CH (channel) audio is available when the TV is c onnected to an external devic e supporting 5.1 CH.

When the receiver (home theatre) is se t to on, you can hear sound output from th e TV’s optical jack. When the
TV is receiving a DTV signal, th e TV will send 5.1 CH sound to the home theatre recei ver. When the source is
a digital component such as a DVD / Blu- ray player / cable box / STB (Set-Top-Box) satellite receiver and i s
connected to the TV via HDMI, only 2 CH a udio will be heard from the home th eatre receiver. If you want to
hear 5.1 CH audio, connect the digital audio out ja ck from your DVD / Blu-ray player / cable b ox / STB satellite
receiver directly to an amplifie r or home theatre.
Headphones

: You can connect your headphones to the head phones output on your set. While th e
headphones are connected, the sou nd from the built-in speakers will b e disabled.

Sound function may be restricted wh en connecting headphone s to the TV.

Headphone volume and TV volum e are adjusted separately.
AUDIO OUT: Connects to the audio input jacks on your a mplifier/DVD home theatre.

When connecting, use the appropr iate connector.

When an audio amplifier is con nected to the AUDIO OUT jacks: Decrea se the volume of the TV and adjust th e
volume level with the amplifier’s volume c ontrol.
