Closed Captioning (digital and analog) Explained
YourTV is equipped with a n internal Closed Caption decoder. It allows you to view conservations,
narrationand sound effects as subtitles on your TV. ClosedCaptions are available on most TV
program,and on some VHS homevideotapes , at the election of the program provider.
CC– Press this button to enabletheC C function. Youcan then use the ▲▼ buttons to select if you
wantCC off or CC on. Youcan use the◄►butto ns to select between different CC channels.
PleaseNote:
DigitalClosed Caption service is a new caption service available on digital TV programs
(alsoat the election of t hes ervice provider). It is a more flexible system than the original
ClosedCaption system, becaus e it allows a variety of caption sizes and font styles.
Notall programs and VHS vi deo tapes offer closed caption. Please look for the CC
symbolto ensure that capti ons will be shown.
Inthe Closed Caption s ystem, there can be more than one caption service provided.
Eachis identified by its o wn number. The CC1 and
CC2services display subtitles ofTVprogram s superimposed over the program’s picture.
Inthe Closed Caption s ystem, the TEXT1 or TEXT2 services display text that is
unrelatedto the program being viewed (e.g., weather or news). These services ar eals o
superimposedover the program currently being viewed.
ClosedCaptioning for this TV o nly works under sources TV, and VIDEO.
Rating Explained

Toblock channels you don’t wantyour children to watch, you can filter them with the ratings function.
MPAAlets you control rati ngs for movies. For regular TV programs you can use USTV settings.
USTVsettings lets you filter what content you want at each age level, TV-Y, to TV-MA (refer to
definitionsbelow). Below ar e definitions for each setting.
USTVRating
TV-Y(USTV) – For All C hildren
Thisprogram is designed to be appropriate for all children. Whether animate d orliv e-action,t he
themesand elements in this program are specifically designed for
avery young audience, inclu ding children from ages 2-6. This program is not expected to frighten
youngerchildren.
TV-Y7(USTV) – Directed toOlderChildre n
Thisprogram is designed for childrenage7 a nd above. It may be more appropriate for children who
haveacquired the developme ntal skills needed to distinguish between make-believe and reality.
Themesand elements in this pro gram may include mild fantasy violence or comedic violence, or
mayfrighten children under t he age of 7. Therefore, parents may want to consider the suitability of
thisprogram for their very youn gc hildren. Note: For those programs where fantasy violence may be
moreintense or more comb ative than other programs in this category, such programs will be
designatedTV-Y7-FV.
