Introduction

The SK 1011is a battery-powered RF-transmitter for wireless sound transmission in combination with an RF-receiver, preferably our model EK 1011.

A typical application for the SK 1011is as an acoustical support for persons with impaired hearing in regular schools, evening schools and universities. The Sennheiser Mikroport system consisting of an SK 1011 and an EK 1011ofters the listener direct reception of the

spoken word, thus eliminating all influences caused by the acoustical characteristlcs of the room along with the normal attenuation due to the distance between speaker and listener. We would like to explaln this by way of the following example:

The speaker, e. g. a teacher, wears the combination of a microphone and a transmitter. The listener, a child or adult with a hearing disability, wears the EK 1011 receiver. Depending upon the extent of audltory impairment, the output of the receiver may be connected to either a set of headphones or to a hearing aid already in use. The amplified signal from the EK 1011reaches the listener's ear loud and clear. Even a person sitting in the last row of an auditorium with poor acoustics will be able to understand the teacher just as though he were speaking at a close distance into the listener's ear.

A few words about the technical performance of this transmitter:

A selector on the SK 1011makes it possible to choose one of three

frequencies (36,7 MHz, 37,1 MHz and 37,9 MHz) assigned by the German telecommunications authority for Mikroport-operation. The

8-pin input connector on the transmitter matches the MKE 4012 and MKE 2012 microphones. The 3.5 mm jack next to the micro-

phone connector accepts audio signals from cassette or tape recorders.

The built-in "HiDyn" noise reduction system makes for supreme transmission quality. To ensure that this quality is maintained the "HiDyn" system is not defeatable. Therefore, the system requires

receivers wh Ich are also equipped with the "HIDyn"-system, such as EK 1011.

The SK 1011 may alternatively be powered by three batteries, type IEC LR 6, or by rechargeable batteries of the same size. Two

contacts are provided on the side of the set to allow recharging batteries with an SZL 1011-2battery charger. The transmitter is supplied with a neck strap and a clip.

Connecting the microphone

To the microphone input connector Q) Sennheiser microphones, types MKE 4012 (cardioid) and MKE 2012 (omnldirectional) may be connected. Due to its high directivity and the resulting enhanced intelligibility MKE 4012 should be given preference in noisy environ- ments. In any case, we strongly suggest using the windscreen

which comes with the microphone to eliminate wind and popping noises.
