Secret number setting for parental control

Allows you to use a secret number to protect certain settings from being accidentally changed.

IMPORTANT:

Three conditions must be met to enable the V-Chip (see pages 40 to 45):

1 Secret No. is registered.

2 V-Chip/V-Chip (DTV Only) settings have been made.

3 “Status” is set to “On”.

Setting a secret number

1Press MENU to display the MENU screen, and then press c/d to select “Setup”.

Press a/b to select “Parental CTRL”, and

2then press ENTER.

3Press a/b to select “Secret No.”, and then press ENTER.

6Press RETURN to start confi guring the V-Chip settings. (See pages 43 and 45 for details.)

Setting parental control status

Used to enable or disable the parental control function.

1Repeat steps 1 to 2 in Setting a secret number.

• The secret number setting menu displays.

2Input the 4-digit secret number by using 09.

3Press a/b to select “Status”, and then press

ENTER.

4Press c/d to select “On” or “Off”, and then press ENTER.

Select “On” to enable and “Off” to disable Parental CTRL.

NOTE

You can skip step 1 and 2 above while in the Parental CTRL screen.

The “V-Chip (DTV Only)” will only be selectable when a new rating system can be downloaded via digital broadcasting in the U.S.
