1Connect a plug-in microphone to the MIC IN socket

on the main unit (page 26).

2Insert a recordable MiniDisc (page 12).

3To operate with the multi-link station, place the

main unit on the multi-link station. (To use the re-

mote control, connect it to the main unit.)

4Press the REC button.

!The record indicator flashes.

!The REC button functions even if the main unit is

turned off.

5Press the MODE/-CHARGE (MODE) button repeat-

edly to select the recording mode (page 33).

6Press the MENU button.

The menu selection mode is activated.

7Select "MIC LEVEL" ("MICLevel") by pressing the

or button, and then press the ENTER/-USB

() button.

8Select "ALC-H", "ALC-L" or "MANUAL" by pressing

the or button, and the press the ENTER/-USB

9Press the MENU button.

The unit enters the menu select

10Select "SYNC REC" by press-

!"SYNC" will flash.

MIC SYNC H (High):

Recording starts when the unit detects -24 dB or more

(the unit can start recording from quiet sounds).

MIC SYNC L (Low):

Recording starts when the unit detects -12 dB or more.

OFF:

Synchro recording is deactivated. ("OFF" cannot be se-

lected with the remote control.)

12When a sound, such as person speaking, is picked

up by the microphone, recording will begin auto-

matically.

!"SYNC" lights up.
