Notes :

When playing a SACD(including SACD area in case of hybrid SACDs) or a DVD Audio, no digital signals will be output.

When your amplifier/receiver is not compatible with the digital signals that are output from this unit, loud noise or no sound may be heard from the speakers, and it may be harmful to your ears and damages the speakers. To prevent it, you should set the DIGITAL OUTPUT to OFF and make analog audio connections.

For details on the digital audio signals that can be output, refer to “Audio output from the unit’s DIGITAL OUTPUTs” on page 7.

DOWNMIX

OFF

ON : When outputting the digital audio signals as it was recorded. (However, there are some exceptions depending on audio recording format recorded in disc.)

OFF : When outputting no digital audio signals.

When selecting the DOWNMIX

Depending on how to connect the analog AUDIO OUTPUT jacks to your amplifier/receiver or TV, you should set the DOWNMIX correctly.

Depending on whether the 2CH AUDIO OUTPUT jacks (or the A/V SCART OUTPUT connector)to a stereo amplifier/receiver/TV or an A/V amplifier/receiver with built-in surround decoder, you should set the DOWNMIX to Lo/Ro or Lt/Rt.

When playing back a DVD Video, DVD Audio or SACD recorded in multichannel signal format, the DOWNMIX setting affects the signals output from the 2CH OUTPUT Jacks (and the A/V SCART OUTPUT connector) and the same signals are output from only the FL and FR jacks of 5.1CH AUDIO OUTPUTs.

When connecting only the 5.1CH AUDIO OUTPUTs to your amplifier/receiver, you should set the DOWNMIX to OFF to output the multichannel audio signals from these jacks as it was recorded.

In this case, only the front left and right signals of the multichannel audio signals will output from the 2CH AUDIO OUTPUT jacks (and the A/V SCART OUTPUT connector).

Note :

When connecting the 5.1CH AUDIO OUTPUTs to the multichannel audio inputs of an amplifier/receiver that does not have the speaker setup for the multichannel audio inputs, you should set the SPEAKER SETUP.(For details, refer to “SETTING THE SPEAKER SETUP” on page 38)
