SMCÕs TigerSwitchª 10/100/1000, SMC6912M/24M, is a new-generation switch with a hefty 4 Gbps backplane that supports stacking up to four units. It includes 12/24 fixed auto negotiating 10BASE-T /100BASE-TX ports on the front-panel, and three slots on the rear panel for optional modules. These include dual-port 100BASE-FX or single-port 1000BASE-SX media modules (allowing up to two FX or SX modules on a stand-alone unit), a stacking module, and a management module. With a host of advanced features and comprehensive management capabilities, the TigerSwitch stack provides a potent solution for your network backbone.

This TigerSwitch also comes fully-loaded with advanced performance-enhancing features. Port-based and tagged VLANs, plus support for automatic GVRP VLAN registration provide traffic security and efficient use of network bandwidth. QoS priority queueing ensures the minimum delay for real-time multimedia data across the network. Flow control eliminates the loss of packets due to bottlenecks caused by port saturation. And broadcast storm control prevents broadcast traffic storms from engulfing the network.

The switchÕs integrated SNMP management agent supports 4-group RMON with in-band and out- of-band management. WhatÕs more, the Web-based interface allows the TigerSwitch to be managed any time from anywhere, removing the limitations and costs associated with a fixed management station.

Manageable

Web management agent for switch configuration access anytime, anywhere

In-band access via EliteView or any other SNMP management application, or Telnet

Out-of-band via RS-232 console port

SLIP access to console port

One agent module manages the whole stack, other modules serve as backup

4-group RMON (Statistics,History,Alarm,Event)

Spanning Tree Protocol allows the creation of redundant data paths
