Turning off the display
— Power Saving Mode
The demonstration display (display window and buttons lighting and flashing even when the system power is off) and the clock display can be turned off to minimize the amount of power consumed during standby (Power Saving Mode).
Press DISPLAY repeatedly while the system is off until the demonstration display or the clock display disappears.
To cancel Power Saving Mode
Press DISPLAY while the system is off. Each time you press the button, the display switches cyclically as follows:
Demonstration display t Clock display* t No display (Power Saving Mode)
* The clock is displayed only if you set the clock.
Tip
The timer continues to operate in Power Saving Mode.
Note
During the Power Saving Mode, the following functions do not work:
–Setting the time.
–Changing the AM tuning interval.
–Pressing a function button to turn the power on.
–Switching the function of VIDEO (MD) (North American model) or MD (VIDEO) (other models).
Using the display
Checking the remaining time/ titles (DVD/VIDEO CD/CD/ Super Audio CD/MP3 file)
When a DVD/CD/Super Audio CD TEXT disc is loaded, you can check the information stored on the disc, such as the titles. When the unit detects DVD/CD/Super Audio CD TEXT discs, the “TEXT” indication appears in the display.
Press DISPLAY during playback.
Each time you press the button, the display changes cyclically as follows:

*1 When playing VIDEO CDs with PBC functions, only the playing time of the scene is displayed.
*2 These are not displayed during Shuffle Play or Program Play.
This information is skipped when playing a VIDEO CD with PBC functions.
Checking the total playing time/titles (DVD/VIDEO CD/ CD/Super Audio CD)
Press DISPLAY in stop mode.
Each time you press the button, the display changes cyclically as follows:
Total number of tracks and the total playing time*3 t Disc title t Clock display (for 8 seconds) t Effect Status
*3 The number of titles is displayed when playing a DVD.
