Selecting other sound fields

Press SOUND FIELD +/– repeatedly until the sound field you want appears on the front panel display.

The current sound field appears on the front panel display.

xAUTO FORMAT DIRECT PRO LOGIC

This mode performs the Pro Logic decoding. Software with multi channel surround audio signals is played back according to the way it was recorded. Software with 2 channel audio signals is decoded with Dolby Pro Logic to create surround effects.

xAUTO FORMAT DIRECT PRO LOGICMOVIE

This mode performs the Pro Logic II movie mode decoding. This setting is ideal for the movies encoded in Dolby Surround.

Besides, this mode can reproduce the sound in 5.1 channel when watching the videos of old movies or in the dubbed language.

xAUTO FORMAT DIRECT PRO LOGICMUSIC

This mode performs the Pro Logic II music mode decoding. This setting is ideal for the normal stereo sources, such as CDs.

xROCK, POP, JAZZ, CLASSIC,

DANCE

Each mode provides sound to suit music sources.

xNEWS, SPORTS, MOVIE

Each mode provides sound to suit the source.

xHEADPHONE 2 CHANNEL STEREO

This mode outputs the sound from the headphone L/R. Standard two channel (stereo) sources completely bypass the sound field processing. Multi channel surround formats are downmixed to two channels.

xHEADPHONE SURROUND

This mode outputs the sound as surround from headphone L/R.

To turn the surround effect off

Press SOUND FIELD +/– until “A.F.D. AUTO” or “2CH ST.” appears on the front panel display.

When connecting the headphones to

the PHONES jack

Press SOUND FIELD +/– on the remote until “HP. 2CH” appears in the front panel display.

zThe system memorizes the last sound field selected for each function mode (Sound Field Link)

Whenever you select a function such as DVD or TUNER, the sound field that was last applied to the function is automatically applied again. For example, if you listen to DVD with “JAZZ” as the sound field, then change to another function, and then return to DVD, “JAZZ” will be applied again. With the tuner, sound fields are memorized separately for all preset stations.

– DTS Digital Surround discs are marked with DTS.

Note

When you play sound tracks with 96 kHz sampling frequency, the output signals will be converted to 48 kHz (sampling frequency).
