disconnect and reconnect the USB cable. If the charge lamp flashes fast again, it suggests that there is
something wrong with the battery pack, AC Adaptor (supplied), or USB cable . Slow flashing
indicates that charging is suspended because the ambient temp erature is outside the suitable range for
charging the battery pack. Charging will resume and the charge lamp will be lit when th e ambient
temperature returns to within the suitable temperature. Charge the battery pac k under the suitable
temperatures between 10 °C and 30 °C (50 °F and 86 °F).
The battery has not been charged even if the charge lamp on the camera has
turned off.
•This phen omenon occurs when you use the camera in an extrem ely hot or cold location. Charge the
battery pack under the suitable temperatures between 10 °C and 30 °C (50 °F an d 86 °F).
The battery pack is not charged.
•When the batt ery pack is not charged (the charge lamp does not ligh t) even if you follow the proper
charging procedure, remove the battery pack and re-insert the same batte ry pack securely, or
disconnect and reconnect the USB cable.
Nothing is displayed on the LCD screen when the power is turned on.
•If you do not operate the camera for given perio d of time, the camera turns to power sav ing mode. To
cancel the power save, operate the camera, such as pressing the shutter button halfway down
(page147).
The shutter does not release.
•You are usin g a memory card with a write-protect switc h, and the switch is set to the LOCK posit ion.
Set the switch to the recording position.
•Check the free capacity of the memory c ard.
•You cannot re cord images while charging the flash.
•The lens is not at tached properly. Attach the lens properly.
Recording takes a long time.
•The noi se reduction function is tur ned on (pages 127, 128). Th is is not a malfunction.
•You are s hooting in RAW mode (page 84). S ince the RAW data file is large, the R AW mode shooting
may take time.
•The Auto HDR is p rocessing an image (page 95).
The image is out of focus.
•The subje ct is too close. Check the minimum focal distance of the lens.
•You are shooting in manual focus mode. Set [AF/MF Select] to [Autofocus] (page66).
•Ambient light is insufficient.
•The subj ect may require special focusing. Use the [Flexible Spot] (page 68) or manual f ocus function
(page66).
The flash does not work.
•Press the (flash pop-up) button to pop up the flash.
•You cannot us e a flash with the following recording mode:
–[Bracket: Cont.]
–[ Sweep Panorama]
–[3D Sweep Panorama]
–[Night Scene] and [Hand-held Twilight] in [Scene Selection]
